Author's POV :
The engagement chaos finally calmed down.
The couple decided they would marry after 6 months.
Right now the whole family were sitting in the drawing room.
Vaishali's parents were also there along with Mahir and Diksha.
Samarth entered the hall while casually scrolling through his phone. He was in a simple black tee and pants.
Mahir noticed him and spoke. "Samarth aao betho yahan! Waise bhi tumhe dhang se introduce bhi nhi karwaya hai Sitara se."
Ekantika looked up and shifted a bit on her seat.
Samarth casually sat beside Mahir.
Agastya spoke, "So this is Ekantika Sanya Mehra! My sister. More like my adopted child."
Samarth looked at her and gave a polite smile. "Hey! I am Samarth. Mahir bhai's brother. I just completed my MBBS in US."
"Hi! Nice to meet you!" Ekantika didn't meet his eyes.
As they talked and chatted, Ekantika's gaze kept flickering at him.
She noticed his every giggle, the way his dimples were visible when he grinned at a joke, they ways his eyes became small when he smiled.
Ekantika found herself smiling.
"Kya hua bacche? Why you smiling?" Agastya asked.
Ekantika shook her head. "Uh nothing bhaiya aise hi."
She tried to distract herself and engage in the talks.
After sometime while all of them were having dinner, Samarth choked on his food due to the spiciness.
Before someone could even react, Ekantika quickly passed on a glass of water to him.
As he slurped down the water, Diksha asked. "Are you fine Samarth??"
"Y-yeah bhabhi! Thanks Ekantika" He replied keeping the empty glass down.
Ekantika just gave a nod.
"Why did I react so fast?
Why did I got so worried?
Arghh noo it's just nothing!!" She thought to herself.
After dinner, Mahir, Diksha and Samarth were leaving to their house.
"Bye sitara!" Mahir side hugged Ekantika and kissed her forehead.
"Byee baby!" Diksha gave a small peck on her cheek.
Samarth was standing and smiled looking at their bond not knowing that smile did something to Ekantika.
~~~Next Day~~~
Avni was speaking about their projects when she noticed something was off.
"Oyee madam? Kya hua hai? Subah se khoyi khoyi si ho?" She asked nudging her.
"Ah kuch nhi bol tu kya bol rhi thi!" Ekantika shook her head.
"Ab to pakka kuch hai!!! Bta na!" Avni spoke clearly interested.
"Ahh I guess I have a crush on someone." Ekantika finally spoke.
"You have a WHAT?!" Both of them turned to see Rakshit with 2 cups of coffee.
He kept the coffee on the table and said, "ye rahi tum dono ki coffee. Ab Miss Ekantika? Spill the tea already gurlll!!!!"
"Tum kya mohalle ki aunty ki tarah Beth gye gossip sunne?" Ekantika rolled her eyes.
"But tum abhi bhaiya ko nhi btaoge! Main unhe thik time par bta dungi!" Ekantika added.
"Done dude!! Dekho humari friendship ka rule yahi hai hum sabke secrets humare sath swarg I mean nark main jayenge!" Avni said high-fiving Rakshit.
"Soooo the guy is............"
"Hm naam bol na bhen?" Rakshit said.
"Samarth!"
"Acha mahir bhai ka bhai----- WHAT?!?!?!!!!!" Avni literally screamed.
Ekantika put her hand on her mouth to stop her from screaming. "Abee pagal ladki pure college ko batane ka plan hai kya?"
"But Samarth bhaiya?" Rakshit asked.
"Han I know he is bit elder than me but feelings ko rok thodi sakti hun! And waise bhi sirf 4 saal hi to bada hai" Ekantika fiddled with her fingers.
~~~Later that day~~~
The three of them decided to go for street marketing.
The market was crowded. Shopkeepers and customers bargening for the prize, children roaming here and there, couples sitting on the nearby benches, street food sellers selling mouth watering plates of golgappe, chaat, sev puri, samose etc.
Ekantika was trying to click the picture of Avni and Rakshit.
She was moving backward trying to get the perfect angle when her leg slipped due to water spilled on the road and she bumped into someone, she closed her eyes ready to get her head hit by the ground when strong hands found her waist steading her.
"Are you fine Ekantika?" Hearing a familiar voice, she opened her eyes to meet a pair of hazel brown eyes which were of none other than Samarth.
Samarth steaded her on the ground and then after a moment of making sure she was still left her waist.
"I---- um--- thank you so much for saving me!" She stammered.
He nodded. "It's alright. You don't need to be embarrassed."
"Aap yahan?" Ekantika asked.
"Kyun? Main yahan nhi ghum skta?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Ahh nhi nhi I didn't mean that way. Um well you can meet my friends." Ekantika shook her head then looked in the direction of her friends who were smirking.
She glared at them and called them.
"She is Avni and He is Rakshit!" She introduced them.
"Hi bhaiya!" Both of them said together.
"Um hi!! Couple?" Samarth asked.
"Yeah!" Both of them smiled sheepishly.
"Aap sab abhi 18 ke ho?" He asked.
"Han!"
"Oh nice matlab main 4 saal bada hun aapse! I am 22. I completed MBBS 4 year in US. India main internship krunga." He spoke.
"Ah nice all the best bhaiya!! Future doctor banoge aap to!" Rakshit smiled.
"Yup!" Samarth said proudly.
"Chalo Ekantika! Me and Rakshit will leave. Late hogya hai already." Both of the said byee and left.
"Gaddar!" Ekantika muttered under her breath left alone with Samarth.
"Ji?" He asked not understanding what she said.
"K-kuch nhi." She shook her head vigorously.
"Aapko Ghar Jana hai to I can drop you waise bhi it's quite late." He offered her politely.
"Nhi main chali jaungi auto se." She refused.
"Aree no issues I will drop you off. Mera Ghar same route par hi hai. Chaliye." He smiled politely and she agreed.
"Um aap bike par comfortable hai na?" He asked while walking towards his bike.
"Y-yeah!" She mumbled even though her heart was about to explode.
He sat on his bike and signalled her to sit behind.
She sat holding onto the back support not daring to touch him.
He started the bike and soon they were absorbing the cool breeze that hit their face.
"Zyada fast to nhi hai?" He checked on her.
"N-nhi it's fine." She replied looking everywhere but not at him.
Soon they reached at her home. She got off from the bike.
"Thank you so much! Aap andar aayiye na." She insisted.
"Kbhi aur aaunga. Agastya bhaiya ko namaste kehna. Byee!" He smiled and started his bike again and left.
"Byee!" She whispered to his leaving figure.
She touched her cheeks which were warm and smiled.
That's when she knew it wasn't the end but the start of something.
Something thrilling yet soft.
